Unfortunately it's not an April Fools joke: Our tireless Executive Director Lisa Lutts is officially retired as of today! Lisa was the first Director hired at CHS and has served in the role for 8 years. We are indebted to her for her work, which among other things included coordinating exhibits, programming, development, fundraising, stewarding a plethora of committees, and representing CHS in the wider community. She is still keeping busy working part-time for Atlantic Black Box, a non-profit dedicated to the research and reckoning with New England's role in colonization and enslavement. She also plans to keep working as a volunteer at CHS. Thank you Lisa for steering us from strength to strength through nearly a decade of the Historical Society's existence! (fb)

Here at CHS we are always looking for fun new items to add to our already pretty amazing gift shop. We now introduce our new line of Candles of Castine. These are 9-oz. lightly scented soy candles in glass jars with wooden lids. And they are made in Maine! They are available in our online store for pick-up only. If you really want them and need them shipped, please give us a call or email us before ordering. Check out these, and other fun items, at castinehistoricalsociety.org and click on SHOP in our main menu. (fb)
