🟪 ⭐ On June 29th, 1775 George Washington and two military aides rode through Wallingford and stopped at the Carrington Inn on Center Street. Washington had just been named Commander of the Continental Army and was riding to Boston, where the army, a rag-tag group of farmers and other volunteers, was camped in the hills overlooking Boston Harbor.
