CureKids? is a national children?s charity based upon an operating model of nonprofit venture philanthropy that has been working to transform research, development and commercialization efforts for life threatening diseases and disorders of children through social investments to universities, entrepreneurs and organizations that have the power to catalyze and change how healthcare impacts the diseases and disorders affecting children. Its social investments are designed to make a significant systemic impact in some of the nation's most difficult diseases and disorders. CureKids roots were firmly established more than 30 years ago to address the lack of research, development and commercialization of science and technologies into life-threatening childhood illnesses in New Zealand. Since then, the organization has invested more than $30million in medical research. This research has helped save hundreds of young lives and has improved the quality of life for thousands of children around the world. Its unique organizational mission is based upon an operating model of venture philanthropy and nonprofit investment in science and technology-based solutions in the areas of healthcare, life sciences, information technologies and education to eradicate disorders and diseases in children. Cure Kids USAs mission is to find cures for pediatric diseases and disorders. We will do this by targeting our non-profit investments in the development of early, mid and late stage organizations that are trying to create new medicines, medical devices, diagnostics, software and educational prevention programs that attack and improve the treatment of childhood diseases. We fund mid to later stages of science and technology to accelerate development and commercialization of strongly needed products.
