Meet Captain Adam Simms His impressive career spans from 1986 to 2008, having combated every type of blaze imaginable—from scorching subway fires and towering high-rise infernos to devastating church and boat fires. Just days after his promotion to Captain and assignment to Marine Company 6, fate placed him directly at Ground Zero on September 11th, where he spent the harrowing day. Following in the footsteps of his firefighter captain father and serving alongside his brother, the Staten Island Deputy Assistant Chief, Captain Simms embodies a profound legacy of service. His extensive work in numerous Manhattan fire companies also provided him with invaluable knowledge of building construction. After retiring, he continued his dedication to public service by attending law school and becoming a paralegal, passionately advocating for civil rights. He also shares his invaluable expertise by teaching fire safety education at the Firezone, ensuring future generations are equipped with crucial knowledge. (fb)
