Hi folks. We have not posted in a while due to health reasons however we came across a wonderful story about how individuals can make a positive impact in the lives of at risk horses. As many of you know, we are now in our 20th year of rescuing and providing lifetime sanctuary for many horses. During this time we have come across action and caring from individual's which deserve mentioning. This is the story of the two beautiful souls in the photographs. They are called Tally (mare) & King (gelding). Both are obviously Belgian Draft horses and are around 12 years old. Very beautiful. In December of 2024, both Tally and King were starving to death in a freezing cold kill pen in Arkansas waiting to be transported for a brutal end to their precious lives. Not so this time, enter Louis and his family from Orange County, CA. Louis arranged for Tally and King to be released into his care from the kill pen and he transported them all the way from Arkansas to their new home here in Orange County, CA. Louis and his family are bringing both horses back to life with their amazing determination, care and love. These gentle giants have captured Louis and his family's heart, all have bonded together. Bringing them back to good health is a labor of love and determination. It is not an easy task but Louis will not falter. Castleton are helping Louis maintain the return to health of these beautiful souls and we know that Louis will succeed. It just shows you what one person can do. One day these beautiful horses were starving to death in a very cold kill pen awaiting a horrible end to their life and now they are living free from abuse and surrounded by love and caring in sunny California. As we approach another Christmas and the end of another year, I am sure that many of us will be reflecting on events which were part of our year. We have experienced many ups and downs and lost some of our beautiful souls which is the hardest part of the work we do. It is always a challenge to stay positive but our beautiful horses and pooches need us to be there for them as they are always there for us with their unconditional love.
