Literacy Inc. | Literacy Crisis | United States
We are advocates for children’s literacy, committed to ending the literacy crisis. When a community reads, children succeed! Literacy in Community (LINC) builds neighborhood networks to support young readers by partnering with schools, libraries and LINC works at the intersection of education and community development to harness the power that exists in every community to make literacy a value and right of all children. Our mission is to engage families and community members to support young readers in high-need neighborhoods. We believe literacy is the path out of poverty and the key to achievement.

Nearly two out of three children affected by systemic poverty cannot read at grade level. Children who cant transition from learning to read to reading to learn by third grade are 13 times more likely not to graduate on time from high school. Illiteracy impacts their ability to access better opportunities in health education and the economy.
