Dr. Flor de Maria Diaz Contreras, a passionate dentist in Oaxaca, Mexico, met baby Ana Sofia, a cleft patient in need, and in an instant, her work became personal. She adopted Ana Sofia, and together with her daughters, she built Fundación Contreras, a safe haven where children with clefts receive the medical care—and love—they deserve. Her story inspired “Yo Creo en Ti” (I Believe in You)—a song that spreads hope to cleft warriors worldwide. Meet Anuwat from Thailand! 🇹🇭 Anuwat, 8, and his sister Aitya, 14, were both born with a cleft, which made it difficult for them to speak and interact with others. Despite the challenges, their father, Chaipishek, has always been their unwavering support — raising them alone in a shack by a lake, with limited resources. After years of struggle, Chaipishek discovered that his children could receive free cleft surgeries through the Tawanchai Center, thanks to Smile Train’s generous supporters. Anuwat’s surgery transformed his life — he can now speak clearly and play with his friends without fear of judgment. For Chaipishek, it’s like his son was “born again.” Now, Anuwat is thriving at school, and Chaipishek's biggest wish is for his children to grow up to be kind, grateful people who make the most of every opportunity.
