FOLK ARTS RAJASTHAN
"One Hand on the Pen; One Hand on the Drum." Folk Arts Rajasthan is dedicated to securing a just and viable future for the Jaisalmer Merasi and their Intangible Cultural Heritage. The Merasi are a traditionally disenfranchised clan of hereditary musicians living in northwest India. Social marginalization puts their community and ancient cultural legacy at risk. Working in partnership with Lok Kala Sagar Sansthan, a local Merasi NGO, Folk Arts Rajasthan helps community youth develop the educational skills and capacity necessary to perpetuate their unique artistic tradition and to achieve social equality.
