Sat May 31 - 12:00 pm: High Bridge Waterfront Walk! https://aqueduct.org/event/?id=331 Presented by NYC H2O Join NYC H2O for a walk along the waterfront of the Harlem River in the Bronx. For this walk, we will start on the High Bridge and then visit several recently restored parks and landmarks along the Bronx coastline of the river, including Highbridge Park, Bridge Park, and Roberto Clemente State Park. Along the way, we will discuss the history of the shoreline, which was once home to grand hotels, steamship excursions, and amusement parks, and consider new plans to create public access along the shoreline, including the planned route of the Harlem River Greenway. Walk #2 of the Great 26 Mile Challenge (see Walk #1 for full description) is a continuation of a 5-walk series designed for those who want to walk the entire 26 miles of the Old Croton Aqueduct (OCA) in Westchester. The Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct awards a Patch and a Certificate to anyone who completes the 26 miles of the trail. This walk covers the segment of the OCA trail from Ossining to Tarrytown. Future walks will be held on the following Sundays: 6/15, 6/22 and 7/13. Required: Pre-registration. Will reschedule in the event of rain. (fb)
