Our Director of Philanthropic Services, CJ Dates, delivered a powerful keynote at the Adirondack Research Consortium's 29th annual conference earlier this month. Sharing stories of the complex challenges our neighbors are facing — from housing and healthcare to food access and child care, CJ underscored the urgent need to build a stronger social safety net for the Adirondacks. Over the last three years, Adirondack Foundation and its partners completed a report on the state of the region’s safety net, convened service providers to brainstorm ways to improve the basic needs infrastructure, and is supporting innovative collaborations to increase the well-being of our communities. The new federal tax proposals could mean fewer dollars for Adirondack nonprofits. In a letter featured in the Adirondack Almanack, our CFO, Stephanie Pianka, explains how provisions in the new tax bill could impact grant funding to our region’s local nonprofits doing vital work to address basic needs like food insecurity, housing, and child care, as well as supporting art programs, providing scholarships, and more.
