The University of Missouri–St. Louis women’s golf team ended its season with a 14th-place finish among the 18 teams that qualified for the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship, held last week at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada. The Tritons compiled a team score of 880 through the 54-hole tournament. Their best round was the second, when they put together a total of 291 to move within two shots of eighth place and the final match-play spot heading into the last day of stroke play. But UMSL couldn’t make a move over the final 18 holes, finishing Thursday’s round at a collective 6 over par. Junior Wilma Zanderau, who earlier in the week was named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year, had a strong tournament individually, finishing with a total of 212, including a final-round 70 to finish 4 under, good for a tie for 10th place on the individual leaderboard. She has now finished in the top 10 at nationals for three consecutive years. (fb)
