Due to a perverse system of incentives for HIV/AIDS research & care, and intense commercial pressures to grow sales revenues for HIV medicines and diagnostics, the interests of the pharmaceutical companies and those of governmental and academic researchers and providers of medical education have become increasingly interconnected, to an oftentimes worrisome degree. Project THAMES will work to increase transparency, to see that existing standards are met, and to advocate for more effective disclosure and regulation.
