HCS HS will always aim to support the WHOLE child and their famiilies by implementing a variety of activities to raise awareness about mental health and kindergarten prepardness for our students. You'll see here, photos of our Social Emotional coaches in Churchill Green, getting our students up and moving with Rainbowdance to enhance self-regulation, self-esteem, and social empathy. We love witnessing our students having a ball through fun interactive learning and working together. Through these activities they lern to follow directions and so much more while we support their academic growth. We also had families from all of our Springfield sites attend a Kindergarten Resource Fair along with the Springfield Public Schools, which encompasses three Springfield Charter Schools and WIC. Exciting Announcement! Nicole Blais, Chief Executive Officer of HCS Head Start, was recently elected to the New England Head Start Association (NEHSA) Board of Directors! For the past 40 years, NEHSA has worked with, and on behalf, of children, families, staff and Early Head Start / Head Start programs located throughout Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. They work to unite and support New England Head Start programs as leaders in early education. In addition to this new and exciting role Nicki has achieved, she also works diligently to move the mission of Head Start forward while working hard to keep the needs of Holyoke, Chicopee, and Springfield on her radar. In that effort, she served multiple terms on the Massachusetts Head Start Association (MHSA) Board of Directors, which serves as the voice of nearly 30 Head Start/Early Head Start’s across Massachusetts, before accepting this new election onto the New England Association board.
