It's a great chance to practice design skills and get recognition at a national level. This is open to students across the USA and Canada. Please email Student Challenge Coordinator Melissa Klaassen for more info. Studentchallenge@sewingprofessionals.com Summer Concert Challenge Details: Create an ensemble to attend a Summer Concert. Concerts are in many different venues and environments. You may design for any type of concert your client will be attending. You must explain who you are designing for “client” (could be yourself). We ask that your design be appropriate and not risqué. You must describe the garment from head to toe. Name the concert and artist you have chosen for your inspiration along with the time in history that artist performed. We want you to be creative so please include one stand out element which can be used as a separate accessory. We ask that no more than $50 be spent. You can use fabric from other garments however they must be deconstructed, yard sales, thrift stores, or ‘grandmother’s‘ stash. Fee to submit an intent to enter - $10 by June 15, 2025 Students do not need to be members of ASDP to enter nor present at the fashion show to win, however we highly encourage them to attend. Melissa is a licensed FCS teacher in Ohio and am the coordinator of this competition. It's modeled and judged at the same time as the Threads magazine challenge and gets a lot of recognition. It will be judged on Oct. 17 this year in Raleigh, NC. The Association of Sewing and Design Professionals is a community of sewing and design professionals who strive to support and empower others in the field. We encourage and celebrate the development of fashion students and emerging sewing professionals.
