Peace X Peace

Peace X Peace is a nonprofit women's organization founded in 2002 to promote building peace through online communications. The organization was established to gather experts in peace and women's rights from around the world, creating a women's response to the September 11 attacks.

History

Peace X Peace was founded by Patricia Smith Melton with the support of notable figures such as Isabel Allende, Susan Collin Marks, and Fatima Gailani. Dr. Sarah McCue served as the first President, and Dr. Pat Morris acted as Executive Director. In 2010, Kim Weichel was appointed as CEO.

Mission

The mission of Peace X Peace is to multiply the power of women by leveraging advanced communication technologies to build sustainable peace. This involves connecting women from diverse backgrounds through digital platforms to share experiences, foster dialogue, and promote peace.

Awards and Recognition

• Espiritu Award: In 2002, the Isabel Allende Foundation honored Peace X Peace with the Espiritu Award for the Pursuit of Peace.
• Documentary Awards: The documentary "Peace by Peace: Women on the Frontlines" won the Golden Eagle Cine Award in 2004 and the Best Documentary Aurora Award in 2006.
• Golden Works Award: Peace X Peace received the Golden Works Award from Religious Science International in 2005 for activities exemplifying the organization's mission.
• Best Places for Women to Work: Working Mother magazine named Peace X Peace one of the 25 Best Places for Women to Work in 2006.
• ePhilanthropy Award: In 2007, Peace X Peace won the ePhilanthropy Foundation's Best Community Building/Activism Award.
