DID YOU KNOW: The Fairchild UC-61 (military version of the 1941 Fairchild Model 24) was the second most produced aircraft manufactured by Fairchild Aircraft during World War II. From 1942-1944 a total of 980 UC-61s rolled off of the assembly line in Hagerstown. The majority of UC-61's were transferred to the United Kingdom and its Commonwealth through Lend-Lease. Several hundred aircraft however were used by the United States Army Air Force and U.S. Navy during the war. Some saw service overseas and others served domestically transporting military officials and dignitaries to and from military bases. While few WWII-produced examples of the UC-61 have survived the test of time, you can find one that is still flight worthy right here at the Hagerstown Aviation Museum. Come visit and experience Hagerstown's aviation heritage, become a member, and check out the museum gift shop! We're open Friday and Saturday, 10 am to 4pm! (fb)

DID YOU KNOW: The XNQ-1 basic/advanced trainer was developed for the U.S. Navy and was first flown by Richard Henson on October 7, 1946. Only two of these prototypes were flown as XNQ-1 and only one remains in pristine and airworthy condition. Come see this very special aircraft and our latest addition to the Hagerstown Aviation Museum. Visit us and see firsthand this beautiful and rare piece of aviation history. We're open Friday 10am to 4pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm. (fb)
