Last Friday, Vietnam veteran Terry Crump was a guest of honor in Kevin Kaemingk's high school social studies classes. Crump, a Whatcom County resident, was a Cobra helicopter pilot, flying 350 missions during 700 combat mission hours in Vietnam in 1970 and '71. He is one of the most decorated pilots in American history, earning seven Distinguished Flying Crosses for acts of heroism, excellence in flight, and for going above and beyond the call of duty in courage and flying skill. Crump is the subject of a new book, "It Was My Turn," authored by Gerald Baron (LC Class of '69). Baron was on hand Friday to help tell Crump's incredible story in Dr. Kaemingk's classes. (fb)
