Meet The Organizers of the Sand Sculpture Competition at Atlantis RIsing!!! Master Sand Sculptor Greg Grady Sr., founder of the Hampton Beach Sand Sculpting Classic, is the organizer for the Sand Sculpture Competition of Atlantis RIsing. Greg was commissioned by the U.S. Mint in 2000 to create a sand sculpture of the tail side of the New Hampshire quarter using ten tons of sand during the Hampton Beach Children’s Festival. A year later, Grady and friends started sculpting at Hampton Beach and initiated the first Solo Master Sand Sculpting event in New England. Grady’s “build it and they will come” attitude drew, and continues to draw, master sand sculptors from around the world. Ten years ago, Greg was joined by his son. Greg Jr., a Marine Corps veteran and a second-generation self-taught artist who has learned from some of the best in the world. A love of the sand and the beach evolved into a career. Greg Jr. has made sand sculptures for all types of events and has competed professionally around the world. Greg Sr. and Greg Jr. are professional sculptors and organizers of sand, snow, pumpkin, and other ephemeral arts for private and corporate events, and the South County Tourism Council is thrilled to have them organizing our competition.
