We extend our condolences to our long-time Board member Catherine Gund and her family as they mourn the passing of Agnes Gund. We knew Agnes as someone who was fiercely dedicated to the public good. In 1977, when New York City was poised to cut funding for art education, she founded Studio in a School—a program that would bring professional artists into the classroom, ensuring that all students would have access to high-quality art education.
