MILL RIVER COUNTRY CLUB IS A MEMBER-OWNED COUNTRY CLUB. THE INTENTION AND PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE RECREATION AND RELAXATION FOR OUR MEMBERS, AT THE LEAST POSSIBLE COST TO THEM.

Originally founded as a nine-hole golf course on former Stratford farmland, the club expanded to 18 holes in 1925 under the expertise of renowned golf architect Thomas Winton. This transformation helped establish the course as one of the finest in New England.

Mill River Country Club gained prominence by hosting significant golf tournaments. Between 1937 and 1953, it was the venue for the prestigious Shoreline Open Championship, a PGA Tour event that attracted legendary golfers such as Gene Sarazen, Julius Boros, and Tommy Armour. The club also hosted two State of Connecticut Opens and the U.S. Ladies Amateur Championship.

Beyond golf, the club features an Olympic-sized swimming pool built in the 1960s, which serves as a training facility for the Mill River Swim Team. Notably, the club includes four modern bowling alleys on the lower level of the clubhouse, providing additional recreational activities for members.
