At 29, Gabrielle was building the life she had dreamed of. She had just started a new job and was finally living on her own terms. Then cancer entered the picture and turned everything upside down emotionally, physically and financially. The diagnosis didn’t just affect Gabrielle, it reshaped her relationship too. She and her partner were unable to do things that young couples take for granted, such as going out for a meal, as they needed whatever extra money they had to pay her monthly bills. They needed a reprieve from the stress and burden of the disease. After her Respite Experience at Woodloch, she shared: "I was able to not think of everything as being so heavy, to take a breath and think clearly. My caregiver could see me relax which helps him relax. This Respite Experience taught me to continue to be grateful for everything." (fb)
