Forestdale's mission is to ensure Queens and Brooklyn children and families have the fundamental assets they need to thrive and live independently. Since 1854, Forestdale has been part of an evolving tradition of activism and innovation in child welfare. Forestdale’s mission is “to ensure that children and families have the assets needed to thrive and live independently.” Since 2012, a key focus has been healing trauma at its onset when parental bonds are interrupted (causing non-secure attachment) and continuing through childhood into adulthood. We are a NYC nonprofit leader working to end the intergenerational transmission of poverty and trauma.
