Today, Jen had to say a tearful goodbye to her equine search partner and best friend, Daisy. Jen and Daisy met about 8 years ago. At first, Daisy was distrustful and at times even dangerous. Jen saw a while lot of "want to" in her, though and with love, patience, and time, they formed an incredible bond of mutual trust and love. Daisy would literally walk through fire if Jen asked her to! Sadly, Daisy started showing lameness late this summer and was diagnosed with Cushings and stage 3 laminitis with significant rotation of the coffin bone. She didnt respond to pergolide, refused to take bute, and stopped eating. Jen made the decision to release her across the Rainbow Bridge rather than watch Cushings rob her beautiful, spunky little mare of her spirit, too. Daisy passed peacefully at home with her equine friends, her dogs, even the chickens paying their last respects. You are already deeply missed, Daisy-girl! (fb)
