Ross Spotlight: Alexis Martino, Upper School Media Teacher and Director of Field Academy Meet Alexis Martino, an educator, artist, and the creative force behind Ross School’s photography program and Field Academy! Since 1999, Alexis has been guiding students on transformative journeys, both in the classroom and across the globe, using photography and storytelling as tools for self-discovery and cultural connection. Alexis brings a rich background in photography, filmmaking, and mentorship to her students. Her past projects, including the documentary "Home Is Where the Street Is" and the youth filmmaking program "Where I’m Coming From," highlight her passion for giving voices to untold stories. Her recently published book, "101 Pennies," further deepens her engagement with storytelling, reinforcing the connection between her professional practice and her teaching. Alexis challenges students to embrace artistic risk-taking and believe in the impossible. Alexis continues to exhibit her work in gallery settings, inspiring students to pursue their creative visions fearlessly.
