🦉 The Year of the Owls Continues at North Country! 🦉 It’s been the year of renesting owls here at North Country Wild Care, and this Great Horned owlet is one of the lucky ones. He was found on the ground — old enough to be a "brancher," gliding from tree to tree, but not quite able to get back up once grounded. We called our amazing tree climber, Sean Keefe, who didn’t hesitate to come out and get the owlet safely back into the trees. Both parents were nearby, watching closely and ready to continue caring for their young one. What makes this rescue especially touching is that Sean had just lost his father that very day — the man who inspired his love for wildlife. While grieving such a profound loss, Sean still showed up to help this owl. His compassion and dedication truly speak volumes. Sean, we are so deeply sorry for your loss. Your strength and selflessness mean the world to us, and we hope you know how appreciated you are — always. If you’re in need of tree trimming or removal this fall, please consider supporting Sean. He gives so much to the wildlife community, and this is a small way we can give back. 🌳💚 (fb)

🕊️✨ A Sweet Send-Off for Franklin & Oscar! ✨🕊️ We’re thrilled to share that Franklin and Oscar the pigeons have officially been released back into the wild — together! These two resilient birds were rescued last fall and cared for by dedicated NCWC member and rehabber Amy. 💔 Franklin was found in Saratoga with a broken wing and a broken leg — likely hit by a car. 💔 Oscar was found in Corinth with a badly broken shoulder. Due to the severity of their injuries, both required long-term rehab and minimal movement at first to heal properly. Once they were ready, they transitioned to a pre-flight enclosure to begin building their strength. From there, they moved to a large pre-release flight enclosure, where they spent the winter with clean water, nutritious food, plenty of treats, and protection from the elements — all while continuing to strengthen their flight muscles. 💛 During their time in rehab, Franklin and Oscar formed a strong bond — so when the time came, they were released together on a beautiful spring day. They took off in tandem and landed safely on top of a nearby building, staying side by side as they surveyed their new world. 🏙️💨 We wish them long, happy lives filled with sunny skies, good food, and safe landings. Thank you, Amy, for your incredible care and compassion! (fb)
