Stanton Bird Club Inc

Home

In today's rapidly growing population and faster paced society, there is a great need for better understanding and a greater connection to the natural world. The Stanton Bird Club answers this need through land preservation, education, and outreach. The Stanton Bird Club maintains three sanctuaries including the crowning green oasis of the Androscoggin: Thorncrag. Thorncrag is a 372-acre oasis amid Maine's second largest urban area, and is the largest privately-held bird sanctuary in New England. The club is currently in process of planning a nature center at Thorncrag as a gateway and educational resource to public. The club fills an essential role in educating the public of Androscoggin County and beyond through its many field trips, presentations, junior naturalist programs, and guided educational trips for local school classes in Thorncrag.
