The federal energy assistance program, LIHEAP (also called by other names such as MEAP or HEAP) has lost the staff that run the program. For over 40 years, LIHEAP has provided critical help with energy bills in the cold winters and hot summers – in every state and territory. This could come to a screeching halt without your help sharing stories of how important LIHEAP is to your household and your community. The federal weatherization program (also called WAP) has also lost staff due to workforce reduction efforts at the Department of Energy. Weatherization relies on a contractor network to fix leaks in walls and ducts, install insulation, repair heating and cooling systems, educate homeowners on how to save energy and so much more so that homeowners save money through lower energy bills.
