We did it! After a nearly two-year fight, resident physicians and fellows at Mass General Brigham (MGB) have overwhelmingly ratified their first union contract with 98% support of all voting members!! With over 2,600 housestaff at MGB, the ratification win constitutes the largest private-sector resident union chapter in the country to approve a contract. Dr. Chris Schenck said it best: “This vote may seem like a culmination of our determination over the last two years in organizing our co-workers and working with a growing coalition of advocates in Boston and around the state who understand that our well-being is deeply tied to the health of the entire community, however there’s much more to come.
