100 Club of Amarillo, Inc., commonly referred to as the 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing assistance to families of certified peace officers and firefighters who are killed or seriously injured in the line of duty. The organization also supports law enforcement and firefighting agencies by providing life-protecting equipment and educational opportunities that these agencies cannot secure through budgeted funds.

Mission and Goals

The mission of the 100 Club is to assist families affected by tragedies involving public safety personnel. It aims to turn tragedy into triumph by offering support during difficult times. Additionally, the organization focuses on enhancing public safety by equipping law enforcement and firefighting agencies with essential tools and knowledge.

History and Expansion

Initially established as 100 Club of Amarillo, Inc., the organization became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2006. It expanded its scope in 2011 to cover the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle, leading to its current name, 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle.

Community Involvement

The organization has received significant support from the community, including substantial donations from charitable foundations. Notably, it received the largest single donation in its history from the Randy L. Wendt Foundation, which is dedicated to providing scholarships for families of murder victims.

Activities and Philanthropy

The organization engages in various activities aimed at supporting public safety personnel and their families. These include financial aid, provision of safety equipment, educational opportunities, and community awareness programs. The 100 Club also maintains a memorial for officers and firefighters who have died in the line of duty, highlighting its commitment to honoring their service and sacrifice.
