Initially established as 100 Club of Amarillo, Inc., the organization became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2006. It expanded its scope in 2011 to cover the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle, leading to its current name, 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle.

The organization has received significant support from the community, including substantial donations from charitable foundations. Notably, it received the largest single donation in its history from the Randy L. Wendt Foundation, which is dedicated to providing scholarships for families of murder victims.
