When a recipient becomes a donor, our mission comes full circle. For Military Appreciation Month, we want to shine a light on The Caesar family. In 2018, they applied for the Transitional Homes for Veterans Program®, about a year after Deidrick was honorably discharged after 15 years of service. Their family was growing, and their two-bedroom apartment would soon be too small. Lissette knew that living rent-free for two years would allow her family to become better established in the community while they paid down debt, built savings, and increased their credit scores. Lissette said she didn’t anticipate how vastly the program would truly transform their lives. The Caesar family met their financial goals despite many setbacks. Lissette and Deidrick both earned bachelor’s degrees and launched new careers. In 2022, they moved into a newly built home they purchased. The transition was seamless because the new home is less than a mile from their Transitional Homes for Veterans home. The move signified so much to the family: perseverance and relief. The family vowed to pay it forward in return. Lissette says, “Donating was an emotional experience for me because I have so much gratitude toward Operation Homefront.” We thank the Caesar family for their donation and are proud to be a part of their journey to a more strong, stable, and secure life. Operation Homefront launched the Transitional Homes for Veterans Program in 2018 to meet that challenge head-on. Through rent-free housing, career guidance, and financial coaching, we provide the stability and support veterans need to plan their future, grow their savings, and build a strong foundation for long-term success. To date, the program has defrayed more than $2 million in mortgage costs, empowering military families to move forward with confidence and purpose.
