In the book of Ezekiel 2230 we know that God was very distraught for the people and their land and he looked for someone to help Him for the needy and He found no one. He wanted someone to stand in the gap for Him for His people. Gods glory calls us to give up our alibis our substitutes for God and to serve without pride and selfishness.
