Increasing Access to, and Improving quality of Higher Education in Pakistan Founded in September 1994, The Promotion of Education in Pakistan (PEP) Foundation is a public, non-profit, apolitical organization. The mission of the PEP Foundation is to provide all students in Pakistan access to an internationally competitive, secular and liberal education. The Foundation works to equip students with both the academic skills and the social awareness necessary to actively participate in the development of society both at home and abroad. Its primary project is the building of the National University of Pakistan-the first non-profit co-educational university in Pakistan to provide students with a world-class education on par with internationally recognized institutions of higher learning. In particular, the Foundation strives to address the needs of economically disadvantaged but academically gifted students who would otherwise be denied higher education.
