Community Bike Project Omaha Volunteers and community activists in the Gifford Park Neighborhood started the Open Shop program in 2007 as a neighborhoodbased community involvement program that focuses on the transportation needs of neighbors. The Bike Project continues to work to improve access to bicycles for everyone through Open Shop EarnaBike and maintenance classes. In addition to serving as a hub for sustainable and equitable transportation the Bike Project also serves as a social learning space that promotes youth mentorship community building and mechanical intelligence. STOLEN BIKE ALERT. Shortly after opening yesterday, someone who we've helped before asked if they could earn a bike from us. We told them that we were currently processing a load of donations, and if they could wait 25 minutes, we would be happy to help them out.
