STOLEN BIKE ALERT!! Shortly after opening yesterday, someone who we've helped before asked if they could earn a bike from us. We told them that we were currently processing a load of donations, and if they could wait 25 minutes, we would be happy to help them out. Instead, they decided to steal this beloved fatbike belonging to a regular patron who had just parked their bike outside to help us get organized. If anyone sees this bike around midtown, please throw a lock on it and inform us immediately!! To the dude who stole our friend's bike: shame on you, stealing from the place that provides you with free transportation is despicable. We were able to provide our friend with a quality loaner for the time being, but he spent hundreds of dollars of his hard earned money on that mongoose fatbike and would very much appreciate getting it back. Keep your eyes peeled, everyone! This bike is incredibly special to our friend. (fb)

About the organization
- P20 -
Volunteers and community activists in the Gifford Park Neighborhood started the Open Shop program in 2007 as a neighborhoodbased community involvement program that focuses on the transportation needs of neighbors. The Bike Project continues to work to improve access to bicycles for everyone through Open Shop EarnaBike and maintenance classes. In addition to serving as a hub for sustainable and equitable transportation the Bike Project also serves as a social learning space that promotes youth mentorship community building and mechanical intelligence. DonateABike Your bicycle and tool donations help our shop continue to provide the community with access to bikes and education.
