RPC Social Impact Center - When Healing Happens, Learning Thrives - RPC Social Impact Center
The Cory Johnson Trauma Education Program offers safe space every Thursday night for people to share their stories of trauma, healing, hope and recovery. Roxbury Presbyterian Church Social Impact Center (SIC) was founded in 2000 with a mission to create and implement educational and economic development programs to strengthen the Roxbury community. But in 2013, a string of violence, including a daytime double murder just steps from the church, caused the Social Impact Center to gain a new focus: offering a direct response to the traumatic impact of urban violence on youth, women and men in the greater Roxbury area. Working with community members and experts in the field of trauma treatment, SIC launched The Cory Johnson Program for Post-Traumatic Healing, a program which fosters connection and empowers community members to take an active role in helping themselves and others heal.
