Home Page The Military Historical Society of Massachusetts founded in 1876 by John Codman Ropes is the nations oldest incorporated military history society. The Societys purpose is to sponsor support and encourage the study of military history. Scholarships Grants The societys fellowships and grants are open to senior cadets and midshipmen enrolled in a Reserve Officer Training Corps ROTC at any New England college or university. Symposium MHSM supports the study debate and promotion of military history within the United states and beyond through presentations by scholars and institutions.
