At Communities In Schools® | Our Mission & Programs Our Mission At Communities In Schools CIS we surround students with a community of support empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Our Programs Current programs include Student Support Specialists at 34 area schools afterschool programs summer enrichment camps programs to support and empower young parents and restorative justice programs that serve as alternatives to the juvenile justice system. Student Support Specialists Student Support Specialists provide casemanaged services to students identified as being atrisk of dropping out or in need of specific intervention services. After School Programming We support the needs of atrisk students and their families in a safe environment by providing free positive daily afterschool programming to Pender County students.

In honor of New Hanover High School’s Graduation at the end of the week, we’re introducing you to CIS #GraduateSpotlight Luis. 🎓✨ Luis enjoys wrestling, eating and going outside. After high school, he will attend Cape Fear Community College to take part in their Electrical Lineworker Training Program, helping keep the community’s lights on.
