🌍 Honoring Earth & History This Earth Month 🌿 Nestled along the Arkansas River in Le Flore County, the Spiro Mounds stand as a testament to the ingenuity and connection early civilizations had with the land. What began as a small farming village evolved into a major cultural and trade center of the Mississippian Culture—stretching from the Rocky Mountains to the Virginia coast and from the Gulf coast of Florida to the Great Lakes. The twelve mounds, built by hand with basketfuls of earth, reflect a deep respect for nature and community. From burial to temple and house mounds, each played a crucial role in shaping one of North America's most influential prehistoric societies. This Earth Month, we celebrate not just the beauty of our planet but also the resilience and resourcefulness of those who came before us. Their legacy reminds us to care for the land that sustains us all. 🌾✨ Come visit us at MONAH to see our Spiro Mound collection! #EarthMonth #SpiroMounds #IndigenousHistory #SustainableLiving #MississippianCulture (fb)
