ABC In Darien, Inc.
Overview
ABC In Darien, Inc. is a nonprofit organization affiliated with the national A Better Chance (ABC) program. It is one of 20 community school programs (CSP) under the ABC umbrella. The organization's primary goal is to significantly increase the number of well-educated young women of color who are capable of assuming positions of responsibility and leadership in American society.
History
Founded in 1980, ABC In Darien welcomed its first class of six female scholars in the fall of 1981. Over its more than 40-year history, the program has successfully graduated 58 scholars from Darien High School, many of whom have gone on to attend prestigious universities and pursue notable careers.

ABC In Darien offers four-year academic and boarding scholarships to young women of color from urban areas to attend Darien High School, which is ranked as one of the top high schools in Connecticut. The organization provides a supportive living environment through its ABC House, where scholars reside with live-in resident directors. Residents are encouraged to engage in extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, performing arts, and volunteer organizations.
