This year’s Be the Change celebration was a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come as a community. Our student reporters from KIPP Seek Academy's 'Seek Speaks' school news program led an engaging conversation with NBC New York's Pat Battle. In addition to our students and alumni, we also honored board members Lisa Amato, Nick Colucci, and Amy Rosen for their support of our mission. We were joined by KIPP Public Schools CEO Shavar Jeffries, who reflected on his journey with KIPP as a founding Board Chair, and the milestones we’ve achieved since in expanding opportunity and equity for students. This month, Nick West, Director of School Operations at KIPP THRIVE Academy, was named a winner of this year’s KIPP Heart & SOL Award from KIPP Public Schools This selective award honors School Operations Leaders who embody excellence as they keep our schools running smoothly and ensure staff can focus on supporting student growth. Since joining THRIVE, Nick has led the way on big wins, from boosting student attendance to driving the development of a new playground and a safely enclosed basketball court. He has strengthened operations procedures, built strong connections with staff and families, and created a school community where everyone feels welcomed and valued. Congratulations, Nick! (fb)
