Visit the Old State House and Old South Meeting House two of Bostons most iconic historic sites and museums. The oldest surviving public building in Boston it was here that the Boston Massacre unfolded and the Declaration of Independence was read for the first time in Boston. On December 16 1773 thousands assembled herethe largest gathering space in Colonial Bostonto protest the Tea Act before setting off to the harbor to destroy the tea. Our two historic Freedom Trail sites offer interactive exhibits engaging walking tours and compelling public programs that will leave you with a deeper connection to our shared history.
