APRN legislation at the Capitol Two bills related to APRN practice are making their way through the legislative process at the state Capitol. HF1794/SF1794: Removal of Advanced Practice Registered Nurse postgraduate collaborative practice requirements provision. This bill, introduced by the Minnesota APRN Coalition, removes the 2,080 required transition-to-practice hours in an environment where both physicians and APRNs work. The bill restricts APRN-owned and operated clinics from hiring new graduate NPs or CNSs. We are considering compromise language to address concerns from the Senate Health and Human Services Vice Chair. Hopefully, we will be heard in the Senate and House Health Committees before the April 4 deadline. HF1010/SF832: Licensed Certified Midwife Definitions Modifications; Certified Midwife licensure Establishment; Licensed Certified Midwife services, medical assistance coverage expansion. This bill introduces and authorizes the role, scope, and practice of certified midwives in Minnesota, establishing oversight by the Minnesota Board of Nursing. This bill is supported by the Minnesota Affiliate of the American College of Nurse Midwives and the Minnesota Section of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
