Awe deprivation happens when we don’t regularly encounter things that make us stop, marvel, and feel connected to something bigger than ourselves. It’s more common than you’d think. Especially in our kids. Why? Because our modern world is noisy and fast. Endless screen time, packed schedules, and little time in nature leave kids overstimulated but under-inspired. 70% of kids ages 6–13 get over 2 hours of screen time daily. But only 25% spend more than 20 minutes a day outside. The result? Less imagination Less empathy More anxiety More disconnection Where do kids go to gain perspective?
