The generous support weve received over the last year has allowed more Mainers with intellectual and developmental disabilities brain injuries autism and other disabilities to live their most independent and fulfilling lives. Its with deep thanks that I write to share about one of our triumphs in 2024 the launch of Opportunities Driving School made possible through the generosity of an Innovations grant from the State of Maine Office of Aging and Disability Services.

👮♀️🐾 Laurie, Melanie, and Penny were curious about what it takes to become a police officer — and especially what’s involved in becoming a K-9 handler. Laurie did some research on the Waterville Police Department and decided to give them a call to see if they could visit and ask their questions in person. The officers were happy to help, and the trio got an inside look at what the job is really like.
