“Child sexual abuse prevention requires all of us. This is not just a job for child advocacy organizations, law enforcement, or policymakers—it is a collective responsibility that spans every sector and every community.” Last week in Dallas, we were honored to co-host a luncheon with Children's Advocacy Centers of Texas, Inc. inviting 100 community leaders from non-profits, philanthropy, education, law enforcement, policy, medicine, and more to convene on the issue of child sexual abuse prevention. According to a recent Youth Risk Behavior Survey, 1 in 6 children in Texas will be sexually abused before their 18th birthday. Our goal with this event was to spur awareness and action. Panelists Jenna Quinn of #JennasLaw, Julie Evans of Alliance For Children, Detective Jeff Rich of the Plano Texas Police Department, Melissa Bright of The Center for Violence Prevention Research, and The Honorable Florence Shapiro shared insights from their unique backgrounds on the state of the field, what is working, and what opportunities and innovations exist to prevent child sexual abuse. Thank you to our panelists for their insights, Joy Rauls and Elizabeth Phillips for their remarks, Children's Advocacy Centers of Texas for partnering on this event with us, and to everyone who took time out of their day to learn more about this important issue. #CSAisPreventable #ChildSexualAbusePrevention #Dallas #Texas #1in6 (fb)
