Patients in our waiting areas now have something to look at other than their phones. Our waiting room program, designed by Foundry 360 with our medical and education teams, is up and running. As they wait to be seen, patients can learn how to craft a budget, defuse family fights, address picky eaters, start a job search, relieve seasonal allergies, lower stress, gauge proper portion sizes, practice subway safety and so much more. A blend of engaging slides and lively short and long-form videos, the presentation also contains privacy notices and announcements about Floating Hospital offerings and departments. It is rare these days to find love stories that have endured for years and even decades. So we were excited to hear the story of Bruce and Pati Richards, a couple celebrating 44 years of marriage whose romance sparked on our last ship, the Lila Acheson Wallace. Bruce wanted to commemorate this year’s wedding anniversary with a commissioned portrait of our boat and the Moran Towing Corporation tugboat that pushed it around New York Harbor. He was a deckhand on the tug and Pati was a student nurse working onboard the ship during the summer when they met. He contacted us in search of a photograph of the boat and tug worthy of such an endeavor. The result is here along with photographs of them, both then and now with their family.
