We are heartbroken over the murder yesterday of a young Jewish man and young Jewish woman who were shot to death by a Hamas sympathizer. We know a little bit about these two precious young people whose lives were short circuited by the madness of this horrific act. The young man, Yaron, an Israeli who worked for the Israeli embassy, was raised in a Messianic Jewish home in Israel. His family appears to be committed believers. He was supposed to take Sarah, an American, back to Israel in the next few weeks where he was going to ask her to marry him, and she was also going to get baptized. There are so many in the Messianic community in Israel who are shocked and saddened, of course, by this horrible action by a vicious and violent Hamas supporter. Some of our Chosen People Ministries staff in Israel know members of Yaron's family. In fact, Yaron himself visited our co-workers in Japan after his time in the army some years ago—even before the creation of Beit Samurai, a hospitality ministry to reach traveling Israelis. He was also part of a soldier’s event in Switzerland designed to encourage those who were in their post-army season. We ask you to join us in prayer for the family at this tragic moment. (fb)

Isaiah 53 is an amazing chapter filled with significant prophecies about the Messiah. The Torah teaches that since the penalty for sin is death, the only way to avoid that penalty is for an innocent sacrifice to die in our place.
