Now that summer is officially here it’s time to reconnect with friends at nearby wineries that offer live music along with food and drink. And good news, several wineries are just a short drive from Oberlin. Here are just a handful: 1. Paper Moon Vineyards in Vermilion features live music every Friday and Saturday along with a food truck, which varies every week. And yes, pets are welcome as long as you - and your furry family members - follow the rules. Check the calendar for special events, such as the June 5 Beach Glass Collage class. 2. Quarry Hill Vineyard in Berlin Hills offers much the same lineup – live music on weekends, dogs in outside areas and special events, such as “paint night” parties on June 19 and August 14. 3. Vermilion Valley Vineyards in Wakeman has expanded its repertoire with Beer Festival events starting June 20. Along with live music, the winery has a book club, trivia night and more. 4. Matus Winery in Wakeman lights up its music stage on Saturdays, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Limited menu but guests can bring in their own food – pizza, wings, salads, etc. (but no crock pots). For something a little different, visit the year-old Mulberry Creek Winery, home to the eclectic Mulberry Creek Herb Farm that features bonsai starter plants, 300+ herb varieties and fairy garden plants and accessories. This summer the MulberryMarket, formerly known as the annual herb fair, is June 21-22. And finally for a fun-filled live music excursion check out Music at Riverdog five miles west of Oberlin. The venue, according to Cool Cleveland, “is the place to go to hear the best country/bluegrass/folk/Americana musicians.” Reservations recommended, but walk-in available if not sold out.
