January 2001 at the School of Art Institute of Chicago NABFEME presented the "Chicago Shero Salute," honoring Black women who have played a significant role in the growth and development of Music Culture. George Daniels served as Host and honorees included: Mary Dee (WGN), Susan Fletcher (Fletchers One Stop), Stella Foster (Chicago Sun Times), Cynthia Johnson (Columbia Records), Linda Johnson Rice (Ebony/Jet), Deloris Dain (WMAQ), Nellie Thomas (Mizz Nellie's Music), Mary Ware (KATZ), Mary Datcher (On The Street Promotions), Air Personality Bonnie DeShong and the legendary Yvonne Daniels of WLS-AM.
