A remarkable woman, Lola Perpich, has passed away at the age of 94. While she may be best known as Minnesota’s first First Lady from the Iron Range, Lola’s legacy is defined not only by her role in public life but by her unwavering commitment to education, the arts, and public service. Her passion and dedication led to the founding of the Minnesota Center for Arts Education—now the Perpich Center for Arts Education in Golden Valley. We at the Minnesota Discovery Center are honored to serve as a trusted repository for the Perpich family’s archival materials. These cherished items, held in perpetuity for the benefit of the public, preserve the memory and legacy of a family deeply committed to Minnesota’s cultural and civic life.
