Mayaworks, Inc.
MayaWorks is a nonprofit social venture working with Maya women to promote economic security. Visit MayaWorks' vision is an enabling and satisfying partnership created between MayaWorks-Guatemala and MayaWorks-US. MayaWorks artisans practice their traditional art with confidence that their products are valued in the US for their beauty and quality. They know that the textiles they produce command a fair price, and that effective, efficient systems are in place to distribute their goods. Income from the sale of an artisan's work is consistent and of sufficient magnitude to meaningfully enhance and sustain the artisan's quality of life as well as that of their families and communities. Artisans have a clear picture of their personal assets and provide leadership in business decision-making. The lives of US partners are also enriched by the collaborative effort. The mutually beneficial working relationship between the women in Guatemala and the US is the vehicle by which their shared goals are achieved.
